Science- Spring 1

In Science, the children have been exploring things that are 'alive', 'used to be alive' or were 'never alive'. We went on a hunt around the school and found things in each of these categories. The children recorded what they had found on charts and also through taking photographs.

Art- Andy Warhol

This term, the children have learnt about 'pop art' and studied the artist Andy Warhol. They explored repeated prints and used bright oil pastels to create their own pop art.

Remembrance Day

During our RE lesson the children learnt about Remembrance Day. We discussed why we have Remembrance Day and why the poppy is worn on this day. During activity time, the children made poppies using a range of materials including buttons, pencils, collage pieces and paint.

Literacy- Little Red Riding Hood

The children have had lots of fun this half term using Talk4Writing to explore the Traditional Tale 'Little Red Riding Hood'. They took part in role play and learned about the repetitive phrases and main events in the story. We discussed the key vocabulary and changed the story to make it into our own called 'Big Blue Riding Hood'. The children created a story map with actions and then used this to write their own 3 part story.

Science- Autumn Term

This half term, the children have been focussing upon the topic 'This is Me!' They have learned all about their bodies and their senses. During this fun science lesson, the children explored their senses with their friends!
