Throughout this unit of work, Year 1 look closely at the changes within living memory. Looking in particular at houses and schools from the 1950s onwards. Children will learn about schools and houses from the past and compare and contrast these with school and houses in the present day. They will learn new vocabulary such as : past, present, old and modern.

Children also learn about family trees and get the chance to create their own.
