The Lives of Significant People of the Past (Toys)
As part of their Toys topic, Year 1 learnt all about Theodore Roosevelt and the invention of the Teddy Bear.
In Year 1, the children look at the differences between toys and how they have changed over time.
They look at the materials they are made from which also links with their science learning. The children get the chance to share their opinions of different toys and classify them using Venn diagrams.
The children also look at the history of the teddy bear, and it's significance. They learn all about Theodore Roosevelt and how his name links with the original manufacturing of the teddy bear.
