Here at Lacewood we believe the best way to encourage good standards of behaviour in school is to have a clear code of conduct backed by a balanced combination of rewards and sanctions.

Staff and pupils

In order that we can all work and learn in a safe, orderly environment each class has a clear set of rules, which are agreed by each key stage.

Keep your own work area tidy at all times.

Pupils who consciously make the effort to support our rules are rewarded by:

  • Verbal praise

  • Gold Stars

    • Bronze certificate for 25 stars

    • Silver certificate for 50 stars

    • Gold certificate for 100 stars

  • Merit assembly

  • Golden time

However, those who choose to break our rules will follow these stages:

KEY STAGE 1 (Infant)

  • Warning - verbal

  • Move places - work on your own

  • Time out

  • Lose Golden time

Serious verbal and physical abuse

  • Report to head and parents / carers informed

KEY STAGE 2 (Junior)

  • Verbal warning

  • Change work area

  • Loss of Golden Time (Each loss will be recorded).

  • Serious offences (i.e. verbal or physical abuse and bullying) will be reported to the head and parents / carers

  • For repeated offences the individual will be seen initially by class teacher and learning mentor if there is no improvement the head will invite parents to set behaviour targets.

  • For extremely serious offences or constant repetition of unreasonable or inappropriate behaviour fixed term exclusion will be put in place with a personal behaviour plan in place on return to school. Failure to improve behaviour after all these steps have taken place may result in permanent exclusion.

Very Serious Misbehaviour

  • Children will be taken to the headteacher

  • Parents / carers will be asked to come in immediately

  • A personal behaviour plan may be put in place.

Criteria for very serious misbehaviour:

  • Deliberate continued defiance

  • Verbal and physical abuse

  • Deliberate damage to property

We ask parents to support us in our efforts to keep our school a happy, secure learning environment where staff encourage pupils to work together to reach their full potential socially, emotionally and intellectually.
