Music is taught through the use of the LCP music scheme. Teachers fit these musical aspects into other areas of children's learning  allowing natural links to be made.Children can see how  all their learning fits together.

Children also have the opportunity to link music to drama and dancing through concerts and productions that take place in school and within the community. We have taken part in  a local music festival for the Dearne Valley schools and  an annual Christmas Festival.

Music  allows children to express themselves in  a creative and enjoyable way. Learning is fun! Children can enhance their musical ability by learning to play the recorder which takes place on Wednesday lunchtime with Mrs. Stratton for Years 3 -6. This is a good starting point if a child is interested in learning to play an instrument. Other instrumental teachers come into school from PADS (Performing Arts Development Service) and usually take children from Year 4 upwards.
Assessment of music takes place through the use of teacher observation and recording of the musical aspects covered, identifying children’s strengths.
