Autumn Term 08

PE Days: Monday and Tuesday
Themes we are learning about this year: Mexico and the Aztecs, Rivers and Coasts, Victorians, Contrasting Locality, Norman castles.
Class Literacy Target: To be able to brainstorm our own Verbs linked to a character or events. To use what we have read to work out why characters behave in the way that they do and how ideas have been developed in non-fiction, finding evidence in the next text to support our ideas. Class maths target: Subtraction To record subtraction calculations by counting on using an empty number line. Class resolution: TO KEEP OUR OUTDOOR VOICES IN THE PLAYGROUND

| Literacy | Non Fiction - Information texts: We are learning to use a dictionary, thesaurus and non - fiction books. Also to mark a text to highlight key information and make notes. We are also learning to discuss and edit our work. Poetry - Creating images: We are learning to understand what a simile is and identify how the language in poems creates images. We are learning to use a poem to to create a writing template then use the template to create a poem.

| Mathematics | We are learning to add several small numbers, find pairs
totalling 9/10/11, add several multiples of H/T, count on and back in
H/T/U add and subtract in Th/H/T/U, also recall multiplication facts for
2,3,4,5, times tables and also find division facts and recognise
fractions. We are learning to count on and back and give in between
numbers in Th/H/T also to add and subtract in Th/H/T/U. We are learning to tell the time using a 24hr clock to the nearest minute using am/pm. We will also be using the clock for estimating and measurement of time.

| Science | We will be learning how flowering plants are reproduced and where
seeds are found, how seeds are dispersed, about germination, pollination
and life cycle of plants. We will also be learning about the stages of growth and development from baby to adult life, we will be looking at how animal life spans vary and study factors that can change and harm the life cycle.

| ICT | We are learning how to create and copy images and make repeat patterns, create and edit tunes and make slides using PowerPoint. and save work using different file types. |
| History | We are learning about the Aztecs how they and where they lived. |
| Art | We shall be learning about Aztec patterns and pictures and show the effects of different ideas and techniques in our artwork. We shall then describe how we could develop our design further. |
| Music | We are exploring different sounds from instruments and working together as a team to create a Samba performance. |
| Physical Education | We are learning Invasion Games, this teaches how to tackle, dodge, use space and defensive tactics. |
| Religious Education | We are learning about the work of two different churches/organisations and talk about community events. |
| Personal, Social, Health Education | SAY NO TO BULLYING TELL AN ADULT We are learning about bullying and the feelings from the all sides (witnesses, bully and the bullied).
