Year 3 topics for Spring term 1: King Henry the VIII

Spelling test will be on a Monday.

Holly Class Hopes:

Holly class hope to be hard working people who gain lots of new knowledge and who are brave enough to try new things and enjoy new learning experiences.

Maths Target

Explain methods of calculation and reasoning about numbers orally and, where

appropriate, in writing.

Reading Target

I can find words and phrases in a story to explain what I think it is about.

Writing Target

I can use a range of adjectives to describe things

I can use different words for said, such as shouted, screamed etc

I can begin some of my sentences by telling the reader when and how things

happen.

 

Class resolution: To always try our very best and to be kind and helpful to others.

During the first half of the Spring term our topic is ‘Henry VIII. We will be finding                                                               out all about the king himself why he had so many wives. This is a great topic and allows lots of opportunities for cross-curricular links in Art, Literacy and also ICT as well as History and Geography.

Our Science topic for this half term will be ‘Habitats and Variation’. We will be                                                                     learning about the conditions in which different animals live and how animals have                                                                       adapted to fit their ever changing environments.
